A FRAME OF LEGEND IN THE HEART OF GRANADA
Bib-Rambla square (Sand gate) is located in the town center, in the shade of hundred-year-old trees. This emblematic site in the history of Granada was founded under the rule of Nasride sovereigns celebrations and tournaments were held there. Once the Catholics Kings have conquered the town celebrations and tournaments continued. Cardinal Cisneros burnt here books from the Moorish libraries. Bib-Rambla Square was also used by the Spanish Inquisition for autos-da-fé and public executions.
Presently, you can find in this square the Archbishop´s Palace (former Catholic University) hand the oldest flower market and it is surrounded by the Cathedral, the Alcaicería, the Royal Chapel, the Town Hall, Corral del Carbón (a 14th century building) and it is also wery close to Albayzín, the oldest quarter in Granada, and to the hill where the Alhambra was built.
